    The Circuit Court in Greenville County requires the name and the search years for all public records access requests to both criminal and civil cases. All cases are computerized from 1985 onwards. Before this all cases are held on docket books from the 1900s up to 1985. Applications for access must be made in person or online. Restricted records include those relating to juveniles, adoptions and sealed cases. Expunged records will also not be released.

    The name of the person involved is required when you approach the Gantt Magistrate Court in Greenville County to gain public records access to a particular file. This can be done online but the court warns of incomplete and possibly incorrect information in certain cases. There is no charge to access court records in this way. Cases include misdemeanors, small claims, evictions and civil actions. The latter will not exceed $7,500 in the amount concerned.
