Maryland public records date to the 1600s, with ancient records available at the Maryland State Archives. Maryland public records are available in person or by mail (no online orders) from the Department of Health, Division of Vital Records, in Baltimore. Birth records are available from 1898 (Baltimore from 1975), death records from 1969, and marriage records from 1990; older records must be obtained from the Maryland State Archives.
