Missouri Public Records

Birth, death, marriage, and divorce records are maintained by the Department of Health and Senior Services Bureau of Vital Records, though these are not Missouri public records. Birth and death certificates from 1910 to the present (and some older) are available and may be obtained in person, online, or by mail. Marriage and divorce records must be obtained in Jefferson City or in the appropriate county. Missouri public records do not include birth, death, marriage, or divorce records, which are restricted to the person or a legal representative regardless of age. Some court records are available via the Case.net system.

  • St Louis County

    Missouri's St. Louis County Circuit Court allows individuals to search for circuit court cases online. The Vital Records Department enables individuals to search for vital records, such as birth certificates, death certificates the marriage certificates. Birth and death certificates can be ordered either online or by phone.

  • Jackson County

    Missouri's Jackson County Recorder of Deeds is responsible for being the public library of all public documents, including real estate deeds, mortgages, assignments, releases and liens. Individuals may also search for marriage records, which can be obtained by submitting a written request. Individuals may also search marriage records by using the Recorder of Deeds' online search.

  • St Charles County

    Missouri's St. Charles County Vital Records Department maintains all vital records in the county, including birth certificates, death certificates, marriage records and divorce records. Individuals must complete a special form that must be signed by the appropriate parties and notarized before submitting it to the state.
