About This Office:

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is responsible for maintaining all criminal records for the state. OSBI also oversees the state forensic laboratory, a statistical analysis center and concealed weapon licenses.

Criminal Records At This Office:

Individuals may request a State Fingerprint Search or a Name Based Search. Fingerprints can be taken at your local law enforcement agency and submitted to OSBI, along with a criminal records request form listing any known aliases. Requests for criminal records can be made in person, by mail or by fax. Name-based searches cost $15 per name, and fingerprint searches cost $19 per name.

Access To Oklahoma Criminal Records:

The Oklahoma Open Records Act ensures that the public has access to Oklahoma criminal records while still protecting individual privacy. Also, approved employers may require a criminal records check, but only law enforcement and other criminal justice entities may access complete criminal records. Oklahoma criminal records will include all arrest and conviction information for misdemeanors and felonies, provided they’re supported by fingerprints.

About This Office:

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC) oversees the operation of 17 correctional institutions, 7 community correction centers, 15 work centers, and several halfway houses throughout the state. Inmates have access to numerous programs designed to improve life and practical skills for a new life after prison.

Inmate Records At This Office:

Oklahoma inmate lookup is offered online through the DOC website. Users may search using the DOC ID number, if known, or using last and first name. Users may also choose to search by alias, type of offense or appearance if unsure of name spelling.

Access To Oklahoma Inmate Records:

The DOC maintains inmate records and allows the public to view certain information on inmates incarcerated or on supervised release in Oklahoma. Inmate records may include a photo and will list the offender’s name, height, weight, hair and eye color, and any visible body marks. The record will also list the correctional facility or parole office, sentence information, conviction information and projected release date.

The OSBI fulfills requests from law enforcement, government agencies for investigative assistance related to the OSBI forensic laboratory or criminal records database. The OSBI also oversees public records requests and concealed weapon licensing.

Background Checks At This Office:

Oklahoma criminal background checks may be obtained by the public for any individual. Name checks and fingerprint searches can be requested. Criminal records results can include misdemeanor and felony arrests and resulting dispositions, including convictions, dismissals and deferrals, as well as incarceration records. Juvenile and sealed records are not included.

Access to Oklahoma Background Checks:

Oklahoma background checks require individuals to fill out a request form and remit it with a fee. The subject’s full name and date of birth must be included. Requests can be made in person, by mail or by fax. If requesting a fingerprint search, a completed fingerprint card must accompany the request form.
