The state provides no online searching, however a private company offers free web access to some county DOC records at www.vinelink.com/index.jsp.

CDCR offers the public access to inmate records that include location of incarceration, current status, personal identifying information to help properly locate the correct inmate, when the inmate was admitted and the projected release date.

The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) maintains an online Inmate Locator on its website. Members of the public may use this database for their own safety and welfare, but the CDCR advises that this database is only for informational purposes. Inmates may be located by name, CDCR number, age, or admission date. Victims may request notification of the release, escape, or death of an inmate by calling the Victim and Survivor Rights and Services Department at 877-256-6877.
