Records are open per the State Open Records Act , pursuant to the Colorado Revised Statutes, Title 24, Article 72, Part 2.

Access to Colorado Incarceration Records

Records Available:
Colorado inmate records can be accessed by the public, which include place of incarceration, status of inmate, tentative release date and future hearing dates. Also listed, if applicable, is whether parole is pending, or if on parole, which office the inmate is released to. A photo is also included in search returns if available, as well as identifying information, such as eye color, weight, height, hair color and date of birth.

The Colorado Department of Corrections (DOC) maintains a database of current incarceration records on its website. These records may be accessed by any member of the public, according to state law. Requestors may search for inmates by name, date of birth, and gender or by DOC number. The Colorado State Archives, a division of the Colorado Department of Personnel & Administration, maintains an index of historical incarceration records called the Record of Convicts, which may be accessed online.

The Colorado Department of Corrections provides access to current inmate records on its database. The Colorado State Archives has records dating from 1871 to 1973 and mug shots dating to 1992.
