In the interest of public safety and welfare, the New Jersey Department of Corrections provides access to incarceration records through its offender search engine. Any individual may access public information on the department’s website, but only law enforcement agencies may access an offender’s full record. Website users may search for inmates by State Bureau of Identification (SBI) number, by first and last name, or by date of birth. Searches may be refined by physical identifiers, county of commitment, and facility location.

There is no fee to the general public to search for incarceration records through the New Jersey Department of Corrections offender search engine.

The New Jersey Department of Corrections updates the public information in the offender search engine biweekly. After offenders are released or paroled, their online incarceration records are no longer updated.
