Online Tracking
Prevent unwanted advertisers from tracking you
Advertising networks track the websites you visit and what you search so they can advertise to you or pass your information along to others.
Who Can See It?
The advertising networks and their partners have access to this data. There is an increasing amount of packaging and selling of your ad-tracking data - which allows advertisers to build a more and more complete picture of who you are. The good news is that this data is not available on an individual basis - so nobody can look up your specific ad network cookies except for you.
What Can You Do About It?
- You can "opt out" of online tracking by using the Network Advertising Initiative. You can also block ads with AdBlock Plus
Privacy Protection Tips:
- Think twice before filling out marketing-related questionnaires that could be distributed or sold without your permission, and be careful about health screenings in malls and public places.
