Name-based searches of Florida criminal records are open to the public and conveniently available through an online system. The CJIS database contains all major, fingerprint related arrests made in Florida. If the fingerprint card had an error, was lost or not turned in by law enforcement, the record won’t appear in the database. Qualified employers and law enforcement agencies may request a fingerprint based criminal records search.

Access to Florida Court Records

Retrieving Records

Criminal records are maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and may be accessed online through the FDLE Criminal History Information website. The website provides access to all files in the FDLE Computerized Criminal History (CCH) database. This database includes only criminal history information for the state of Florida, and these records are not certified. Certified records may be ordered using the state’s criminal history information request form. Requests should be mailed to the FDLE. In Florida, criminal records are considered public information.

Cost

Individuals are charged a non-refundable fee of $24 to perform an online criminal record search or to request a certified copy of a criminal history from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Years Available

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Criminal History Information department updates its database continuously to keep records current. Information about new arrests is added to the online system on an ongoing basis.
