Idaho Division of Criminal Investigations
Bureau of Criminal Identification
All Idaho criminal records must be supported by fingerprints, otherwise they are erased from the system. Complete criminal records are only released to criminal justice agencies, authorized employers and citizens who request personal criminal records. The public may request criminal records that include all convictions. Any arrest older than 12 months that is open or pending is considered protected.

Access to Idaho Court Records
The Idaho State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) provides access to the criminal records in its automated database. These records are compiled from fingerprint arrest records reported to BCI. Private parties and agencies other than criminal justice agencies must have a signed release from the record subject. Records may be obtained by completing the fingerprint-based or name-based criminal background check form and the payment authorization form. Requests may be mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered to the BCI.
The cost of a fingerprint-based or name-based criminal background check is $10. The Idaho State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations accepts payment by cash, check, or credit/debit card. A $1 processing fee plus 3% of the total transaction fee applies to credit or debit card payments.
Criminal history records are available throughout the lifetime of the record subject. Historical records may be obtained by contacting the BCI.
