Retrieving Records

The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) keeps incarceration records in a database, which is available to the general public on the IDOC website. The database allows website users to search by an offender’s name, date of birth, or IDOC number. Information is available on the department’s website 24 hours a day, except during times of server maintenance or inmate information updates. Incarceration information may also be obtained over the phone by calling the Illinois Department of Corrections. The IDOC also maintains online registries of wanted fugitives and sex offenders.

There is no fee to the general public or to law enforcement agencies or officials for accessing the Illinois Department of Corrections online inmate databases.
