Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation
DOCR holds inmate records for those incarcerated, on parole or probation in North Dakota. The public has limited access to these records, however. Inmate records available to the public will include a photo, the inmate’s full name and date of birth, estimated release date and location of incarceration, which includes an address and contact phone number.
North Dakota Court Record Availability
Employees of the Prisons Division may not disclose inmate information except as granted in North Dakota Century Code 12-47-36.
Access to North Dakota Court Records
The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation provides access to public information about the offenders in its custody through its online Inmate Lookup service. This service is available to any member of the general public. Website users may search for inmates by last name or by the initial letters of the last name. Victims and their family members may request notification of changes in an inmate’s activity status through VINElink, a nationwide victim notification service.
The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation does not charge a fee to use its online Inmate Lookup service. There is no fee for victims and their family members to use VINElink’s notification service.
Incarceration records are available to the general public while the offender is under the jurisdiction of the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
