Central Records Office
DCS makes inmate records available to the public and will include any information deemed public by Nebraska. A photo will be included if available for each inmate record plus the date of birth, gender, race, age and full name plus aliases. Also considered public record is detailed sentencing information, including date of sentence, total possible sentence, projected release date, parole eligibility, upcoming parole hearings or reviews, date of parole, release information and location of incarceration facility.
Access to Nebraska Court Records
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (DCS) makes incarceration records available to the public on its website. Any member of the public may search for offenders by name or DCS number. Public information about offenders is available on the website. Private information is held by the Central Records Office of the DCS. Access to an offender’s complete file may require a court order.
Public information about offenders who are currently in the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services system is available to the public at no charge. Public information about offenders is provided for free in the interest of public safety.
The Central Records Office of the DCS maintains a record for each offender from the time he or she is admitted to the system. After discharge, the file is stored on microfilm and archived according to the department’s record retention schedule.
