RIDOC offers the public access to public inmate records, which categorize inmate charges, inmate sentences and inmate details. Inmate charges detail how charges were levied, including case number, bail amount, disposition, date and description of offense. Inmate sentences detail the sentences levied for all convictions, including date of admission and projected release date, conviction description, case number and sentence term. Finally, inmate details list offender’s name, race, gender, age, current facility and level of security (i.e. minimum security).

Retrieving Records

The Rhode Island Department of Corrections (DOC) provides access to public information about the offenders currently under its jurisdiction. This information is available online through the department’s Inmate Search database. The information is open to any member of the public. Records may be searched by inmate name, name type (alias or real name), race, sex, age range, or last known city of residence. Victims and their families may search for offender information through VINElink (Victim Identification and Notification Everyday).

The Rhode Island Department of Corrections provides access to inmate information as a voluntary service. Use of the online Inmate Locator or a search for offenders through VINElink are both free of cost.

Years Available

The Rhode Island Department of Corrections Inmate Locator is updated on a regular basis, but the DOC cannot guarantee that the information is current at the time of search. Online records include inmates currently under the department’s jurisdiction.
