The county clerk’s office of Erie County, New York works to make a variety of records available to the public. Their Jurisdiction includes all felony and civil cases. Unfortunately no sealed records are open to the public. The County Clerk’s office contains all criminal records in books, dating back to 1900. The civil records are computerized back to 1993 and then exist in book form back to 1900. Members of the public must make records requests in person.

Their jurisdiction includes all misdemeanors, civil actions under 15,000 dollars, small claims and evictions. No sealed or youth offender records are released to the public. Buffalo City Court’s criminal records are computerized back to 1983 and exist in book form dating back to 1974. Their civil records are the same. Members of the public must make their records request in person.

The Supreme and County Court of Erie County contain a variety of public records that are accessible to its citizens. Their jurisdiction includes all civil felonies. Criminal records date back to 1900 and are in book form. Civil records dating back to 1994 are computerized. Prior records exist in book form and date back to 1900. Members of the public can make their requests either in person or online. A date of birth, name and year of the case is needed to conduct and accurate search.
