New Mexico Administrative Office of Courts
About This Office:
The New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts is the administrative arm of the Judicial Branch of New Mexico and therefore maintains all records regarding the courts. In addition, the Office of the Courts is responsible for maintaining information regarding court services and programs, legal forms and family law forms, and related state court websites.
Court Records At This Office:
Access to New Mexico court records are available by visiting the Case Look-Up section found on the Judicial Branch of New Mexico’s website. The Case-Look Up feature provides electronic court records for review.
Access To New Mexico Court Records:
New Mexico’s judicial branch has three levels of courts: local magistrate/metropolitan/probate/municipal courts, 13 district/circuit courts, and the Court of Appeals/Supreme Court. Generally the local courts handle traffic, minor civil, and misdemeanors cases, while the district and circuit courts have jury trials for felonies and major civil cases. Court records are the responsibility of the Administrative Office of the Courts, with historical records prior to 1912 archived at the New Mexico State Records Center and Archives.
